RECOGNIZE OUR SIMILARITIES; RESPECT OUR DIFFERENCES
by
Geraldine Goes In Center
and
Lilah Morton Pengra
Jerry and Lilah have worked together to write this inspirational and educational how-to guide to decreasing racism, increasing understanding and celebrating diversity. It is chockfull of great jokes, quotes, proverbs and articles about cultural differences.
Pick up your pencil and take the self-assessment questionnaire about one set of values. Do you have “situation” values, like Jerry, or “destination” values, like Lilah? Or are you in the middle, with values from several cultural backgrounds? Identifying our own values is the first step to talking about them with others in order to decrease conflicts and increase respect.

Each person has a particular
cultural background and “race.”
Cultural conflicts are sometimes
expressed or felt as racism.
Understanding cultural difference
will decrease conflict and racism.
